Reading assignment - Mosaics

Welcome to the discussion about the reading assignment about Mosaics.

Leave your answers to the questions below in this thread. If you have any questions or you want to discuss something connected to the assignment feel free to do it in this thread as well, but please keep everything to the topic.

  1. What is a mosaic?
  2. Who can create a mosaic?
  3. What is levy?
  4. What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?

1. What is a mosaic? Mosaics are smart programmable tokens on the NEM blockchain.

2. Who can create a mosaic? Anyone can create as many Mosaics as they need under a registered and unique Namespace.

3. What is levy? A levy is an option that you can add to your Mosaic so that whenever other users transact with your Mosaic, you’ll receive a levy free from them.

4. What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply? A Mosaic with a mutable supply means that the total number of tokens can be changed later, either to increase or reduce the supply.

  1. Mosaic is a smart programmable token or asset on NEM blockchain.
  2. Anyone can create mosaics or tokens under a registered and unique namespace.
  3. You get a levy fee if your mosaic requires a levy and only when other users transact with your mosaic.
  4. Mutable supply means, that you can later increase or decrease a supply of your tokens.
  1. mosaics are smart programmable tokens on the NEM blockchain.
  2. everybody is able to create mosaics under a registered, unique namespace.
  3. you can create a mosaic which requires a levy, so if anyone makes tansactions with your mosaic, you receive that levy fee.
  4. it just means that the token supply is not fixed, but variable.

What is a mosaic?
- A mosaic is an asset within the NEM blockchain. XEM is an example of a mosaic.

Who can create a mosaic?
- Everyone!

What is levy?
- The fee which goes to the creater of a mosaic if the mosaic opts to use a levy.

What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?
- This means that in the future the supply may be altered to make more or less of the mosaic.

1. Mosaics are highly customizable, programmable tokens registered with a unique Namespace on the NEM blockchain. They can be used for cryptocurrencies, stocks, coupons, IOU’s, fiat pegs, and any other kind of financial assets.

2. Anyone

3. Users transacting a Mosaic that requires a levy have to pay a fee to the owner of the Mosaic.

4. It means that the owner of the Mosaic can increase or decrease to total supply later on.

  1. What is a mosaic?
    a digital asset in NEM

  2. Who can create a mosaic?
everyone (under a registered and unique Namespace)

  3. What is levy?
Transactions with Mosaics with a levy require users to pay fees to the owner of the Mosaic

  4. What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?
The initial supply of the Mosaic can be changed later on (inflate or deflate)

What is a mosaic?

A mosaic is an asset that is programmable, similar to an erc-20 token in Ethereum.

Who can create a mosaic?

Anyone can create a mosaic.

What is levy?

A levy is a fee that the mosaic author receives upon users transacting with the mentioned mosaic.

What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?

A mosaic with a mutable supply is simply a mosaic that allows the grand total of circulating units to be changed, as opposed to an immutable supply, such as Xem, that can never be changed.

  1. The smart programmable tokens on the NEM blockchain
  2. Anyone can create as many as Mosaics as they need under a registered and unique Namespace.
  3. If you create a Mosaic that requires a levy, whenever other users transact with your Mosaic, you get a levy fee from them.
  4. Supply could be increased.

1- mosaic are asset in NEM
2 -everyone
3 - if you create a Mosaic that requires a levy, whenever other users transact with your Mosaic, you get a levy fee from them
4- the initial supply of the Mosaic is not freeze

  1. Mosaics are assets in the NEM blockchain. XEM, the currency of NEM is itself a Mosaic.
  2. Anyone.
  3. Levy is a sort of fee that needs to be paid whenever anyone transacts with the mosaics.
  4. It means that the total amount of said mosaic in circulation can be changed later on, i.e. it is not fixed. Immutable supply means that the amount in circulation is fixed when the mosaic is made and can’t be changed later.

  3. Who can create a mosaic?
  4. Anyone can create mosaics as they are templates tokens with variable parameters.

  5. What is levy?
  6. A transaction fee paid the owner of the mosaic for transferring mosaics from one account to another..

  7. What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?
  8. A mutable supply is a supply that can change and be modified at anytime by the owner of the mosaic. Not censorship resistant.

1. What is a mosaic?
Smart programmable token on the NEM Blockchain. These are assests in NEM. XEM, the cryptocurrency of NEM is also a asset so that means it is a Mosaic.

2. Who can create a mosaic?
Anyone but under registered and unique namespace.

3. What is levy?
It is the fee charged to allow others to transact with your mosaic.

4. What does it mean to create a mosaic with mutable supply?
This allows to change the total supply of the mosaics later on.
