How can you incentivize people to open approximately 6 channels? so we can micro-transact trough lightning around the world?

Good question, fees and power

surely the digram in the lesson is wrong and that Juan should have 1btc after he passes the .1 btc along?

Hi @Emmett, what lesson are you talking about?

lightning network routing (lightning network basics lesson 4) . They say Juan has 2 at the end

I don’t see anything wrong. Juan has 2 BTCs (1 on each channel) and after the tx he has 1.1 and 0.9 on each channel.

thinking about the same question. answer comes in my mind was fee. @filip what you mean by Power in the answer of this question.

Now, you better have a couple channels open with big hubs like bittrefill, lnbig etcetera. (nodes with many big channels)
If you have couple channels with these, you will never have routing issues.

With circular rebalance, you can play to get more inbound as well

Hi,

Just watched the " Lightning Network Routing" video and finished the reading assignment, and have a question off the back of this…

Can you “opt out” of being used in a routing path?

I get that the total balance is not affected, but I can imagine a scenario where your channel with a specific user is depleted and continually requires refilling if you are frequently part of a routing path.

You can have non-advertised channels.

Is this course still up-to-date in 2022?

The reading assignment is a blog post by Lightning Labs from 2018.

Also, is this forum still being monitored?
I didn’t receive a reply in over 10 days.

Yes the course is still up to date. Lightning hasn’t changed much in that time.

Indeed.

Only the link Filip mentioned in 2019 with the Lightning map at end of this routing lesson (message 2 above) does not work (properly / atm)…

Use this one: https://explorer.acinq.co/ in stead
